Sig Cox Becomes First Official Partner of Augusta Pro Hockey
AUGUSTA, GA – Augusta Pro Hockey and Zawyer Sports & Entertainment is proud to announce that Sig Cox Augusta Heating & Air Conditioning has become the first official partner of Augusta Pro Hockey and will serve as the Official HVAC Partner of the team.
“Ever since we announced that professional hockey was coming back to Augusta, the community’s response has been nothing short of amazing, said Zawyer Sports Chief Revenue Officer Mike DeMartino. “Leading the way by example is Sig Cox – a company with a long, proud history of serving the Augusta community for a century! Zawyer Sports and the Augusta Hockey could not be more excited to announce Sig Cox as our team’s first Official Partner!”
This partnership is set to officially begin at the start of the 2027-2028 ECHL season when the team, set to be named later, is expected to begin play. ECHL Hockey will return to Augusta for the first time since the 2009 season, when the Augusta Lynx entertained hockey fans for ten seasons. The Lynx were later followed by the SPHL’s Augusta RiverHawks which served the region from 2010-2013.
“In tandem with celebrating our 100th year in business in 2026, we are thrilled to team up with Zawyer Sports and Augusta Hockey as their Official HVAC Sponsor,” said Jeff Miller, President of Sig Cox Heating & Air. “From puck drop to the final buzzer, this team will bring energy, excitement, and pride to our community. We cannot wait for the 2027 season to start.”
Sig Cox is the oldest, most respected air conditioning business in the Augusta area that offers full service for residential and commercial customers for local Georgia and South Carolina. Sig Cox can be reached at 706-722-5304, or by visiting www.sigcox.com
Augusta’s Pro Hockey is owned by Heisman Trophy Winner Tim Tebow and entrepreneur and businessman David Hodges. Tebow and Hodges also own the ECHL’s Tahoe Knight Monsters. The team will play in the new Augusta Arena, which is set to open in 2027, complete with a capacity of 10,500+ seats. The arena will be managed by the Oak View Group (OVG).
The team’s day-to-day operations will be overseen by Zawyer Sports & Entertainment, a professional sports management group based in Jacksonville, Florida, that operates multiple hockey franchises, including the ECHL’s Jacksonville Icemen, Savannah Ghost Pirates, Greensboro Gargoyles, and the AHL’s Charlotte Checkers.
The ECHL is the premier “AA” hockey league and will embark on its 38th season in 2025–26. More than 700 players have graduated from the ECHL to the National Hockey League, and ECHL alumni have been represented on Stanley Cup champion rosters in 24 consecutive years. All 29 ECHL teams are currently affiliated with NHL teams; an affiliate for Augusta Pro Hockey will be announced in the future.
